⁵ Moreover, I have heard the groaning^(A) of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.^(B)

²³ If you do and they cry out^(A) to me, I will certainly hear their cry.^(B)

²⁷ because that cloak is the only covering your neighbor has. What else can they sleep in?^(A) When they cry out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.^(B)

¹⁷ And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked,^(A) because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”^(B)

¹⁸ Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”^(C)

¹⁹ And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass^(D) in front of you, and I will proclaim my name,^(E) the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.^{(F) 20} But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see^(G) me and live.”

⁷ What other nation is so great^(A) as to have their gods near^(B) them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him?

²⁹ But if from there you seek^(A) the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart^(B) and with all your soul.^{(C) 30} When you are in distress^(D) and all these things have happened to you, then in later days^(E) you will return^(F) to the Lord your God and obey him. ³¹ For the Lord your God is a merciful^(G) God; he will not abandon^(H) or destroy^(I) you or forget^(J) the covenant with your ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath.
